Pre-School

We are a group of parents whose children are due to start Long Sutton School in the next school year. We meet in the school hall at 2pm on Tuesdays in the Summer Term. The aim of the group is to familiarise the children with the school, not only with the building and the staff, but also with the children who will be in the same class as them next year. We have the added bonus of getting to know the parents so that we too can recognise familiar faces at the school gates.

During the summer term, the pre-school children are supported by Y5 children at the Teddy Bears' Picnic and at the Pre-School sports afternoon. The Y5 children write individually to the pre-school children introducing themselves as their special Buddy for September. This partnership gives the pre-school children a point of contact and it offers them support in the early days of their schooling.

The group itself is run by the parents of the children and its success really depends on everyone getting involved. We fund the group by asking for a donation of £1 per family per session. We know that children who have attended the group in the past have had very few problems settling into school and we hope the group will flourish again this year. We look forward to meeting as many of you as possible, even if it's only on the occasional Tuesday.
